Siskin Steel and Supply Company is proud to be headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, The Scenic City, with offices located at 1901 Riverfront Parkway. With a population of 168,000, Chattanooga is the fourth-largest city in Tennessee and is located in the southeastern part of the state, along the banks of the Tennessee River. Chattanooga lies approximately 120 miles to the northwest of Atlanta, 120 miles to the southwest of Knoxville, about 135 miles to the southeast of Nashville, and about 148 miles to the northeast of Birmingham, Alabama. Chattanooga sits just north of the Georgia border, and just east of the Alabama state line.
Not only is Chattanooga known as a major railroad hub, but three major southeastern U.S. interstate highways, I-24, I-75, and I-59, intersect here, providing fast and easy highway access to all areas of the southeastern United States. With excellent river, rail, and highway transportation corridors, Chattanooga is the ideal location in the southeast for a Steel Service Center distribution hub.

Purchasing
Our Purchasing Department consists of professional Product Managers who specialize in very specific commodities to better serve our customers. The purchasing function certainly plays a critical role to help ensure that we meet and exceed the needs of our customers. Our corporate inventory is the company’s single largest asset, thus making purchasing and inventory management very important endeavors. Each Product Manager must constantly analyze inventory and make the necessary decisions to maintain stock in the appropriate locations, at the proper levels, and of course at the optimal cost. Currently, the Purchasing Department procures approximately 250,000 tons of material per year while maintaining an on-hand inventory of 42,000 tons to 45,000 tons at any given time.
Buyouts
While Siskin Steel is a full-line metal service center with an expansive inventory of carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, we still cannot stock every item a customer may need. To serve our customers’ total requirements, we rely on our Buyout Department to search the marketplace and procure the often difficult-to-find items. Given the time and our vast resources of supply, there is very little that cannot be found for our customers. The material purchased by the Buyout Department does not go into our inventory. It is essentially already sold. Quick turnaround is essential to best serve our customers. The desired material must be bought, picked up, and delivered to the customer in the minimum time possible.
Information Technology
The Information Technology Department is responsible for providing all the technology needs for our employees, vendors, and, most importantly, our customers. Using an in-house developed ERP solution customized to the way we do business, the I.T. Department is able to provide all the up-to-the-minute information needed to make the business decisions that keep us competitive and provide customer service “second to none”.
Operations
Corporate Operations manages capital equipment purchases, oversees safety and maintenance for our physical plants and company truck fleets, and supervises the operation of our Maintenance Departments at all company locations.
Human Resources
The Corporate H.R. Department is responsible for overseeing the administration, safety, and training of over 600 Siskin Steel employees.
