Flat bars are flat, rectangular-shaped bars that are used for many applications from structural to architectural. Most carbon and alloy steel flat bars, commonly referred to as “strip”, under ¼” thick are processed from coil stock and straightened while, typically, ¼” and over are hot rolled at the mill. Stainless steel flat bars ½” thick and below are usually slit from the coil and edge conditioned through a Gauer process. Although stainless true bars can be produced below ½” in thickness, the majority of stainless true bars are ½” and above and hot rolled and/or cold rolled at the mill. Aluminum flat bars are extruded.

We stock carbon and alloy steel flat bar ranging from FL 1/8 in. x 1/2 in. up to FL 2 in. x 8 in. in lengths of 20 feet. Stainless steel flat bars also range in size from FL 1/8 in. x 1/2 in. up to FL 2 in. x 8 in. and typically run in 12-foot random lengths but are also available in 20-foot lengths if required.
